Is Your Body Holding onto Unseen Pain?
Have you ever felt an unexpected wave of anxiety or a sudden rush of sadness, and you couldn’t quite explain why?
Maybe you feel restless, on edge, or bracing for something that hasn’t even happened yet.
Without understanding where it’s coming from.
How Trauma Shows Up
Trauma doesn’t always show up as vivid memories or flashbacks.
Sometimes, it’s the feelings your body holds onto.
Tightness in your chest, a constant sense of stress, or the feeling that something’s wrong - even when your mind thinks it’s safe.
Your body can remember long after the event has passed.
Think about those times when your body reacts before your mind even has time to process.
Like flinching when startled or tensing up when criticised.
These are signs your body still remembers what your mind may have forgotten.
Healing is not Reliving
Healing doesn’t require you to relive every painful memory.
Sometimes, it begins right here, right now, by simply giving yourself permission to listen to your body.
Healing is about creating safety in the present moment, and releasing the tension, fear, and pain that you’ve been carrying.
Healing isn’t about digging up every detail — it’s about creating space to feel and let go.
You can begin healing without carrying the weight of the past into your present.
A Simple Exercise to Release Unseen Pain:
This practice was designed to help you reconnect with your body and release stored tension.
Find a Safe Space:
Choose a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed.
Ground Yourself:
Sit or lie down and notice how your body feels in contact with the ground beneath you. Let yourself settle into the present moment.
Breathe Mindfully:
Take slow, deep breaths. Focus on the rise and fall of your chest and abdomen. Let each breath be a reminder that you’re safe in this moment.
Body Scan:
Gently move your awareness through your body, from head to toe. Notice any areas of tension or discomfort. Don’t judge them — just observe.
Release Through Movement:
If you find an area of tension, allow your body to make gentle movements like stretching, shaking, or even tapping to release the energy stored there. Let your body lead the way.
Integrate:
After a few minutes, pause and notice any changes. How does your body feel now compared to before?
Take a deep breath and appreciate the space you’ve created for yourself.
Healing isn’t about perfection.
Healing is about listening, feeling, and allowing your body to release what it’s been holding onto.
You don’t have to do this alone.
Healing is a journey, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
